hey all,

of course I am looking into a new router, as are many others from doing a quick search.
I thought I might ask a little different than the usual.

I am guessing with the holidays just gone by, you bought for yourself, a family member.....

So how is it, what model did you choose. Are you happy with it, does it work to the standards you were hoping for ?.

Guess i'm just asking for a mini review of what you decided to purchase. What model did you choose. Would you recommend it to others to buy.

Airlink 101, and works like a charm. For a stub/home network, well I wouldn't want anything else. It provides good wifi connectivity, and enough private address space to accommodate a range of nodes. Enough room for desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, network cameras, etc.

Asus RT-N16 flashed with Tomato. Verdict is still out as the wireless Cisco Valet adapter keeps crapping out (to that router or the other stable G routers so I know that adapter is hosed).

Have:
1 WRT54G version 2 - Access Point
1 WRT54G-TM - Wireless Ethernet bridge
1 Asus 520GU - Primary router (connected to cable modem)

All flashed with Tomato. All run super and have tons of features (open VPN, Putty into network with SSH, USB storage, etc. but do run at G speeds.

Once I determine if the RT-N16 is stable, it will become the primary router and I will retire something (maybe), lol.
