So...what was the deal with the GF6 Hardware Decoder chip?

Well, after looking through the first thread, I ran out of patience looking for answers. I didn't go into the second or third (if there was) threads.

But I am curious - what is the state of the GeForce 6 series hardware video decoder chip?

Was it enabled in later driver releases? (I'm an ATi guy - I haven't been paying attention to nVidia drivers)
Or was it just a gimmick?

And the new one?

If you would read before you speak, you would have seen that the guy didn't have time to read through those giant flamethreads.
As far as I know, the video processors are hardware defective. No way to get WM9-10 decoding or encoding, even with new drivers. The 6600GT and 6200 series are a different story though, they support the hardware decoding and encoding. But the 6800 series just has the ability to do the VPU accelerated 3:2 pulldown, etc.
Not 100% positive on this one, but pretty sure.
