So what was AOL thinking with its "warn" feature?

Someone will be sitting at their computer and get an IM from someone, notice their "Warning level" is at 60% and decide not to talk to them?

"Whew... i bet that guy was a real meanie"

That's what they were thinking. Nowadays it's just a weapon for preteens to use against each other. If you've ever been warned, you'd notice that the rate at which it allows you to send messages decreases exponentially with each warning

The 'warn' implementation is completely retarded. I still can't believe it's in Instant Messenger...

I wish the other programs like Trillian would figure out how to get rid of it. I mean.. if someone warned me, their warning % would be at 100% before they had a chance to warn me again. Then, they would be blocked.... but what purpose does that serve?

Warn is a fvcking moot point when you can just block someone.

I've always wondered what it did.

My brother routinely asks me to warn him to the maximum.

Unfortunately, he's no pre-teen. He's 32.
