So what the heck are app developers gonna call iPad 3 apps? Super HD?

So we had iPhone apps, and they were good.

Then the iPad came along, and app developers raped us by making us pay for the app again and slapping an HD on the end of it.

Now with the Retina display iPad 3 coming out, what are they gonna call these apps? Super HD? Think they'll make us pay yet again for the luxury?

Super %appname% XL Retina HD Turbo Edition

But seriously, they won't Cal them anything different, just like they didn't call iPhone apps anything different. You'll just get an update on day that says updated for iPad 3 though resolution display and that will be that.

I probably won't rebuy any iPad app I already have. I mean they're already adapted for the iPad screen size. There probably won't be a huge benefit to being natively double the resolution.

I don't think I've seen developers release a retina version apart from a normal version. I've also seen some HD releases that are universal unlike the normal version. So, it does cost a little more (.99 vs 1.99 or 2.99), but it's like two in one :p.

Did developers change the name of apps when retina versions came out? Of course not, because it was expected of them. I've only seen one instance where an app separated non-Retina and Retina versions of the iPhone app, and people were not very happy about that.

To those that are unfamiliar with iPhone/iPad apps.

When you go to the appstore, if there's a small "+" sign on the install button, that means the app is universal. Meaning you pay once and you get one app made for the iPhone and one app made for the iPad without any additional costs. Developers refer to it as a universal app. The same will probably apply to the iPad3. So probably no Super HD moniker.

But this is so much more fun!

And when the iPad 5 comes out, we can go with:
Super %appname% XL Retina HD Turbo Edition: Hyper Fighting

This really annoyed me back when I got my sister the first iPad. I was going to put the already purchased iPhone apps on there and wait for the updates to support the higher res... and then they start releasing separate "HD" versions with a price tag. Screw those greedy devs. I've witnessed the same thing with a couple of Android apps as well. I think it's pretty ridiculous.

The worst thing is how iPhone apps don't run in Retina mode unless you jailbreak. You either chose terrible graphics (worse than your phone) or you have to buy the HD versions.

I'm hoping that's changed on the new iPad.
