Do NOT want big city living. (chicago, etc)

do want suburban living, with some land (2 acres+)
dont want ocean side, or touristy area.
do want 4 seasons.
dont want lots of snow
do want mountains for skiing
dont want super hot.
do want good shopping, restaurants, etc.

i am a midwesterner at heart.

ive always thought of moving to NC when i get older, but i want to see what else is out there.

my major is Hospitality Mgmt, so i can pretty much live anywhere, but i want something still rural/suburban, but with land, and not a huge city (i couldnt live in one, or near one)

skiing, but not lots of snow? Flagstaff, AZ maybe? only skiing a couple weeks a year though..but you could always go up to colorado

without the skiing, how about Omaha, NE/nearby Iowa

good shopping/restauraunts==big city, but both of those should have enough to be satisfactory

pennsylvania would be your choice.

no way, if i were to move to PA, i would stay here in Ohio instead.

by not a lot of snow, i mean, mountains nearby (i really want to own ONE RWD car and not have to worry about winter)

CO sounds good, ive always thought about NC a lot, and Washington is another interesting choice (similar to norther Cali)

Yeah, I was gonna say that NC sounds like a good fit, 'cept it can get pretty hot here. The mountains are much better though, as far as temperature goes.

There is plenty of land to go around (for little $$), and good shopping isn't far.

Northern California (east of Sacramento) sounds pretty close to what you're describing, except for the fact that it's fvcking hot there in the summer (this past summer we had about a month straight of over 110F).

The US Supreme Court has yet to apply the 2nd amendment to the states. This is why various states have varying levels of gun control laws.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 7th amendments have not been applied to the individual states. Nor has the 1st clause of the 5th amendment or the 1st clause of the 8th amendment.

I am familiar with the Slaughter house cases. there is a difference between gun control laws and a prohibition on guns...

NC is actually what I was going to suggest. You could always go for the Metro Atlanta area...somewhere like Suwanee or Buford would be far enough away from a big city that it shouldn't bother you, and a bit closer to the mountains you're wanting (albeit not by much). Skiing is a ~5 or so hour drive from those cities; not too bad.

Madison, WI fits those except for the mountains. There are some ski hills up North though.

Who in their right mind wants to live far from the ocean?

Man, being a Cali native my whole priorites of living are ass backwards from yours.

Northern Cali has 3-seasons. No 4th season here, as their is no snow and rarely drops below 35 degress.

I'm thinking Reno. As you dislike big cities I'm sure youll suffice at eating at chain restaruants with flair.

california ocean sucks compared to florida panhandle(destin, panama city) gulf coast. Also, the east coast ocean isn't any better than the west coast, they both suck.
