So...what should I do in this situation

I went up to this girl after my history class and started talking to her (that was a first), well...I asked for her number and she didn't want to give it to me because her boyfriend had just broken up with her a week ago. So I apoligized (for some reason) and said that I would maybe talk to her sometime in class. Should I just ask if I can sit next to her next time in class? My class is pretty big and I always sat across the room from her. Would that be bad (as in pestering)?

normally "mind if I sit here" isn't bad, but she did refuse to give you her phone # already. I say ask, and if she says no, then back off for a month or so and try again. Then if she says no again, give up, she doesn't like you.

However, if she says yes, good for you :)

sit where you always sit. she didn't want to give it to you....and she used the BF thing as an excuse. accept it and don't bother her again.

I'd probably give up. Chances of successful catch in this situation are bordering around the .8% range now. You didn't ask her to marry you. You asked for number and she said no :(

That was a polite way of saying No. She's not interested.

Dingdingdingdingdingding!!!!!!! He wins the prize! That is your answer, Burnt. At least she was nice about it. She could have said "*rollseyes*I'd never date anyone like you...shoot, you don't even drive a Corvette!" Or words to that effect.

I asked a girl out back in highschool (early 1980's) she said "Go out with you? *snicker* You drive a Chevy Nova!" And she turned and walked away. Now THAT is a slap. :(

get a pic next time before you ask.

so we can add stuff like, "dang, she's skanky, you should be glad she didn't give you the number"

when you're young trying never hurts, :) but when its time to settle down don't go for games or second guess. :)

It does sound like she turned you down nicely. I'd say just be okay with that - if she's willing to get to know you better later on, she knows you're interested and she'll approach you, but it's not likely. Any other prospects for a Friday night date you can look up? :)
