So what project needs the most help?

What project would a single (dual Xeon) machine have the greatest effect on? Looking to run something else either alongside or in place of DPAD.

I'm actually considering joining the wife and jumping on the SETI bandwagon, again. Although I'm still annoyed that I lost all those points from SETI classic.

Hey Andy my friend, what's up man ?
Please chill out some before a mod decides to give you a vacation man. It ain't worth it my friend. There are those of us who would miss you around here my friend.

i'll cast my vote for folding@home.

we're coming up soon on a couple overtakes we've been playing cat and mouse w/ for several months so the more help we can get the better 🙂

plus the results go to a "good" cause

Hi, Fullmetal Chocobo

You could take a gander at The EON Project. There are only 12 TeAm members pc's slaving away at this . Recently, we were at 9th place, Alliance Francophone :Q (with only 2 members!!!) dropped us down to 10th:shocked:. If everyone at TeAm donated their weakest cruncher to this little pearl we would be really be laying down some rubber on the asphalt!

Yeah, I am also upset at the loss of my Classic Seti points, it took me over 5 years to reach above the 10k mark.

I am happy that I latched onto F@H 🙂- in less than 3 months I just cracked the 30k line. These Intel P4 crunchers of mine (2 of them) are FINALLY good for something beside keeping my wife and I warm in the winter!😀

we'd love to have you at SIMAP. 🙂

good cause, nice client and a small but damn fine TeAM. 😉 currently we're pushing for top three and we may ( or likely) get some TAS help next month but we could use all the help we can.

Ordinarily, I'd recommend the Einstein@Home project, but AMD processors tend to perform much better than Intel chips in this project, so I'd recommend finding a project that best utilizes those Intel chips. 🙂

Just the same, we'd love to have you on E@H team!

I am doing folding@Home but give a good gander at the various projects and see what strikes your fancy. Many people look at what the organization is trying to solve or research. You will find some cause you will want to help out.

Well, since SETI ended my knowledge of various projects is limited to F@H & SOB, so i'll plug those.

The F@H TeAm is currently in 25 place. For such a long running project i'm surprised we're ranked so low. AMD & Intel are about the same(i guess) except that Intel get some of the larger, bonus, WUs.
There are some nice monitoring tools available also.

The 17 or Bust TeAm is currently in 4th place. If you don't mind searching for large prime numbers then this is a fun project i think.
I think the Intels have the edge in this project, though i'm not positive. Some one once said "the new client rocks on P4's" so i'm just going on that.
I have two 3.0Ghz HT P4's running F@H & SOB on each & one AMD XP1800 running SOB & here's what i get for production.
Not much in the way of monitoring, but you don't really need anything... the client does that.
Are own Ken_g6 created a caching tool that works really well, if needed.

Any project you choose will win though... good luck! 🙂

Alright. Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I'll install BOINC, Folding&Home, and the EON Project. Thanks all.

EDIT: I didn't know eOn was at home in Austin. Sweet. I'll definitley be doing that one then. 🙂
