Why do these links always get discombobulated by the server?

At the request by Chief Value or Newegg?

Good luck with that. "...this category is not actively monitored. Not all topics are responded to."

I always found that kind of ironic. The one forum where people would actually need help directly from moderators is not actively monitored. I must be missing something.

Take out the www. in front of www.chiefvalue and your golden

http://chiefvalue.com-works

******-does not work ;)

OMG BAN!

???
Did I miss something, he wanted help, I helped, and your screaming ban? Since when did helping members become a banable thing?

I don't really understand it either. Usually the only website names that are blocked are ones that are scams, 'free <insert something here>' pyramid schemes, viruses, etc.

Faulty logic.
If you want a Mod to help you, send a PM. If you want forum members to help you, post here.

With all due respect, I disagree (not with the policy --hey, it's their board--but with your faulty logic remark). Since the mods are the keepers and administrators of the forum, in many instances it is THEY who are the only ones who can respond to a particular forum issue that no regular forum member would have knowledge of.

In other words, if there's some discovered bug in the forum software, or some server issue at AT, etc., only one with inside knowledge of the AT forums themselves would normally be expected to address it. Those, to me, are what I would consider examples of "forum issues". That's hardly faulty logic, and is, in fact, quite obvious. Hence, the irony.

The "PM the mod" mantra doesn't make sense (imo) when something that affects a large number of users is discovered that only admins can repair. Posting it as an issue that's monitored makes it public for all, and searchable, which also potentially cuts down on PM's to mods. Everyone wins.

Anyway, my 2c's. Back to tech support for me.

Where's the list of moderators?
There isn't a list and none is necessary. A PM to member "AnandTech Moderator" covers them all.

I've been wondering this for a long time now. My work around is to edit the post after it's made.....but that's a PITA.

AT has a pretty tight relationship with Newegg. I'm sure it's intentional because Newegg has higher margins than Chiefvalue, so they try to direct buyers there.
