you haven't even seen 99% of diesel washes. All major denim companies do nothing but rip off Diesel. All these shitty american labels popped up sometime in 2000-03. Diesel has been around since the late 70s.

they bank on stupid bitches who think they're so hot because they can wear tight ass jeans even though they have 3 kids and are in their 30s/40s.

the women who wear sevens only wear it because that's all they push at nordstroms/bloomingdales, they couldn't know less about denim.

Have you tried the exclusive Auric brand dungarees? Of course you have not. It is waiting list only. Oh, and if you must ask how much they cost then you cannot afford them. Peasant.

we're not talking jet engines here...

If we were, you wouldn't be in the thread.

This thread is now about jet engines.

Actually, I know a thing or two about jet engines. I work designing them, mostly in seals, bearings and oil systems. The markup on them can be pretty high, 33% or more is pretty usual.

The difference is the company making jet engines has to recoup their design costs, the jeans companies have comparatively $0 development costs.

that's absolutely not true. They buy the denim. They spend tons on labor. The jeans are hand made by skilled craftsmen, tailors and scientists (who come up with formulas for dying and distressing the jeans), designers, etc.

I said DEVELOPMENT costs. That has nothing to do with actually making the jeans, buying the denim, or paying people to make them. Development costs are just designing the product and getting things ready for it to be produced.

Most designers are full of crap and anyone that claims to be a denim scientist is just ridiculous. The hardest part would be changing the fabric itself and would take the longest lead time to get made.

All,

When I started this post I seriously wanted to know why someone would pay a large amount of money, IMO, for a pair of jeans. I didn't want this to turn into a bash Casio thread. Casio and others here like to have nice expensive jeans just like many people like to spend a lot of money on computers, cars, etc. Quit fuckin with people because you don't agree with them.

i have nice jeans because i can wear them out to the clubs, when i dont have enough slacks to last friday night or saturday night, they are really comfortable because of the cotton blend. i like levis for everyday wear, but sometimes when i go out at night i wear my citizens. i might be a trend whore but they really are comfy.

americans innovate, everyone else tries to imitate.

Unfortunately, on this topic you'll never get a straight answer here for two reasons...
1. It's bound to involve Casio
2. Only a few people here care or know about expensive jeans.

If you try googling denim forum you'll get answers from people that know quite a bit more about denim and will be able to fill you in on any differences between them and normal jeans.

let me tell you a true story

one day I was at my friends house with his girlfriend alone. Then I started dancing like an idiot and she said, 'are those the new safados you look so fucking hot in them' and she pulled my pants down and gave me a blowjob right in the middle of the kitchen.

So you dance like an idiot, got play from a girl that's as shallow as the public kiddy pool (and probably is as clean), and backstabbed your friend all in the course of an hour.

Wow, you are a worse person than I thought.

I didn't backstab him, I did him a favor, he wouldn't want to marry a girl like that...

besides there are no std's from BJ's.

Ever hear of this wonderful thing called genital herpes?

From health central:

Because we know that people with genital herpes often shed the virus even when they don?t have any disease activity, technically, they can spread the virus by allowing a non-infected partner to perform oral sex on him or her. However, that may not be the case. Although HSV1 (the virus that usually causes cold sores) can cause genital lesions if the virus take up latency there, it is almost unheard of to see HSV2 (the virus that causes genital herpes) cause cold sores! No one knows why.
