My Grandfather has a copy of Redcap for me to take a mess around with. Anyone used this before? I am not sure even how to use it lol.

I have a few PCs I can install it on ... I am think of putting it on a PIII 733 that is currently my FTP server running Windows 2000.

Can I just put Redcap on this PC and have both Windows and Linux on it? I am a total n00b with anything non Windows lol so any help or advice you have I am open ears or eyes rather. :p

I don't want to screw up my FTP server but I am thinking ... can I run the FTP off Redcap just as well as it is in Windows?

1. It's Redhat :)
2. Go search in the Operating Systems forum, there's lots of Linux based information there :)

I am not sure if Redhat has a non-destructive partitioning tool or not. I used Partition Magic to resize my WIN partition and it worked out very well. Keep in mind that before you do any exploration, to back your stuff up. ;) That way if you mess it all up (which, if you are new to this stuff, you will do :D) you can go back. If you have a different HD you can put it on that you dont use, that would be good. Redhat is a great one to get a feel for how things work.

What is it like? Well, it is hard to describe. It is not as slick or polished as windows, and there is a ton of stuff to learn. But it is cool nonetheless and there are some things I like much much better already (and I am still a noob). I like alot of different things about both windows and linux, but to be honest, if there was game support for linux that was good then I would most likely switch that to my desktop. Just keep in mind it is different. It is VERY customizable, which is cool. But some things do not look as good and dont always work as expected. Just keep that in mind and be prepared to have to come asking questions :D

hehe ok cool

I really want it for networking and the built in C compliler it has. But anyway only one way to learn something is to do it.
