What games have you been playing lately and what do you think about them (breifly)?

The Simes 2
I actually really like this game! I'm going to go ahead and turn in my man card right now because Maxis has made me their b!tch.

Burnout 3
I just love how this game is the anti-racer. Yes, you do have to get first, but you also have to smash the !@#$@!# out of the other drives (which earns you money) in order to win.

Warcraft III
I know I know. But, I'm not talking about the SP campaign! I've been playing TD (Tower Defense - mod) on bnet, and also playing some of those maps solo. I really like the TD map that Blizzard made for the expansion pack. Lots of fun. Even made some of my own maps a while back,

Anyways, that about does it for me. I've managed to avoid getting Star Wars:BF and 40K:DoW and Rome. All great games, but I'm holding off for a slew of other great games coming out.

Games I'm looking foward to
WoW
HL2
GTA:SA
Leisure Suit Larry
MOH:pA

Released last Christmas, the Urban Chaos user mod/total conversion for Jagged Alliance 2. Squad-level, turn-based tactical combat and RPG goodness The maps, weapons and most NPCs are very different from the original JA2, and it feels more like a new game than X-Com 1 vs. 2. JA2 fansite / forums

Sadly, Strategy First (who bought the rights to Jagged Alliance fron Sir-Tech) has now gone bankrupt themselves, so Jagged Alliance 3 is in limbo again.

I'm tempted to purchase Sims 2, first appealed to me a bit but wore off quickly. I'll looking forward to HL2 and WoW.

ya gotta love the huge amount of support that blizzard has for its games. I am still obsessed with warcraft and all of the different maps that you can play through bnet. Its kinda sad that not many other games can keep me interested.

Sims 2: Good game, too bad I suck at designing houses :)

Battlefield 1942: Pretty much stopped playing the unmodified game. Did Desert Combat for a bit, but can get highly annoying at times with certain maps. New mod I'm hooked on is Forgotten Hope, still 40's style and a bit tougher.

Rome - Total War: Just started playing.

Madden 2004: Not playing as much as I should :'(

Games I'm looking foward to
Half-Life 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I'm sure there are others, but I usually forget about them until they get released.

Madden 2004
No One Lives Forever 2
Need for Speed - Porsche Edition

It's really odd, as I rarely buy the new games just as soon as they hit the shelves. I mainly browse the bargin bin or look for older games that I know I will enjoy or have great reviews.

I do plan on buying COD:UO pretty soon though.

Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed = Best Need for Speed game bar none. I love it to death and wish there was a proper high quality sequel to it. I have problems running it with my current system though.

right now I'm playing:

Thief: Deadly Shadows (PC)
Silent Hill 4 (PC)
Kingdom Heart (PS2)
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PS2)

agreed

Yeah, I've been looking for a replacement to NFS3: Hot Pursuit that runs on XP. I absolutely loved the first Hot Pursuit, but have been unable to get it to work on XP. NFS Porsche is excellent and I especially love the time trials and races against the Porsche team.

For me NFS3: Hot Pursuit and NFS Porsche rank up there as the 2 best racing games for the PC. Hot Pursuit 2 was crap, IMHO.

I had problems running Porsche on XP, but I found a modified patch and it runs great on my 9800. Before I found the patch, the menus were extremely slow and the racing was even slower. Let me know if you need it, and I can email it to you

I just started NOLF2 last night, but didn't play past the first stage. I can tell it's going to be a "stealth" game, and I typically don't enjoy those types. But from what I've seen so far, I think I'll like it. :)

Don't expect the first level to set the pace for the game. Its not really a stealth game, just a few levels offer the opportunity to do it stealthy. Hrm, actually...now that I think about it....I think that might be the only level.

BTW, that game will litterelly make you "LOL". ;)

PC:
BFV online (and WWII / POE mods) -- good strategies for FPS
UT2004 online either BR or ONS -- good for when you need to veg and just REACT
Starcraft: Brood War (when I need single player) -- good for when you just need to waste TONS OF TIME

PS2:
GT3 (74% so far) -- Fun to try different setups
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance -- fun hack and slash no-thinking
Rygar -- small amounts of thought, not really that great a game actually, glad I only paid $10 for it
ICO -- excellent thinking adventure game, though frustrating at times.

I switch around a lot.

Finished - Doom III - garbage, absolute waste of time, crap (except for the gfx)

Finished = Thief III - Deadly Shadows - Great game! Best of the year - so far!

Finished = Max Payne II - The Fall of Max Payne - Not as good as the first (the story sucked and told "too much") but still a worthy sequel.

Playing + Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force II; impressed the Q3 engine can still "deliver" (not THAT great gfx) and there are some really HARD levels . . . not great, but the best of the Star Trek FPS.

Playing + DeuSex II - Invisible War. Just started . . . You NEED the patch (and a fast machine) . . . not bad, so far!

Desert Combat mod for BF1942 - Really fun, especially on modded maps with lots of vehicles and planes so the wait for one is short :)

Really looking forward to HL2
