So what exactly will the President have to do to get off the defensive?

His big ad campaign backfired, and he is constantly having to defend himself on what is supposedly his strength "the war on terror". Now with this Clark thing, he can't seem to catch a break.

Heck, that idiot Kerry hasn't even opened his mouth for three weeks and the president is still getting negative press.

Yes that is interesting... Kerry can go on vacation and Bush's former staff members will keep him on the defensive. I can sense a real frustration when I see interviews with various White House spokespeople, especially National Security Adviser Condi Rice. It seems like she is going to go on a shoting spree.

The President will always get negative press, because the media is largely dominated by left-leaning organizations. CBS, 60 Minutes and the Clarke book are a good example. CBS used 60 minutes to push the book, which Viacom has a financial stake in.

I think it is actually better for the president when Kerry is actually campaigning, because he says something incredibly stupid and shifty at least once a week to capitalize on.

Ah...and the conspiracy theories begin.

Pray tell, if the media is so out to get Bush and has so much control...how in the world did he get elected in the first place?

Oh really? You just now are seeing that Bush is getting negative press? Don't mind the year the left has been taking swings at him. Also I think you are a tad off base on Bush's ads "backfiring" on him. Seems to me that the polls are showing that Bush retook the lead after he actually started campaigning and running ads. But think what you wish - Bush will always be on the defensive because the left and the press love to make it seem that way.

Gee, you'd think with such a left-slanted press out to hurt Republicans and favor Democrats that we'd never have heard about the Monica Lewinksi scandal?

Is there a response to my question perhaps in very tiny font somewhere in your reply? I can't seem to find it...

To be fair his statment wasn't.."but Clinton did something". He was talking about the press and its past behavior.

Well, the situation here is slightly different. We're not discussing a President's action and trying to compare it to a previous President. We're discussing an allegation of bias in the mainstream media. You claimed it is left-biased using the example that Bush currectly has some negative press released on him. Then in response, I- ignoring to mention the fact the press faithfully reports all the attacks on Clarke by the Bush team, and all the counter-arguments they make, which if omitted, would perhaps indicate a bias- provided you an example of the press feeding on a Democratic scandal like a pack of piranhas, which contradicts your theory. Care to comment on that?

Don't forget Gary Condit either (and a long list of other Dems.) The press will tear anyone apart because it sells.

The stupid "liberial-media bais" conspiracy theories are just that. There are biased organizations on both sides, but the liberal-media as puppetmaster tinfoil hat arguements are just silly. Bush makes himself an easy target because he is an idiot and a fool who ineptly runs his administration, and must hide or minimize the realities of all his poor decisions.

Iozina you are making the point for Cad with this example, if the media was not slanted to the left as you suggest then we would have had every other station slamming Klinton during the Lewinski scandal and crying for impeachment at every chance as it would not only have furthered the right agenda but also made for groundbreaking TV, instead you had virtually all national media outlets decrying the Lewinski trials as a waste of time, blowing off his lying under oath and justifying it by saying it was his personal life and he shouldn't have to talk about it....had this been a Republican they would have been crucified.

The Media definately has a hard left slant, however they are also not going to pass up a chance to make a buck...
