Speaking of Something Awful, I wonder what is going on with Cliff Yablonski hates you. It is one of my all time fav sites & hasn't been updated in over a month. :(

Thresh was a frame jacking wuss. He refused to play even hardware. Real life probably finally caught up to him and he lost the thrill of telling girls he was a professional videogame geek. ;)

I think Thresh is cool, I wish he would come back to FS.. I used to like that site alot better than the main anandtech because it was all about gaming... the forums suck though.... I also think Thresh is cooler than anand...

Maybe he finally got laid and realized that professional gamer as a "job" is perhaps the most pathetic thing a person can do with their life and finally getting his rocks off without a mouse in his hand helped him see the light :D

Well he stopped playing proffesionally after Quake 2. As for him being scared to play with even hardware? I dont think, so he wupped everyone at every tournament he played in where everyone is on the same spec machines. He stopped playing in leagues to concentrate on his gamers.com which turned him into a millionare (maybe even lost it all too who knows) Im sure he will come back into the limelight and play again someday.

Its funny for people on this boad to make fun of him. For living off his gaming ability while they have 30+post a day here. Lol

When I worked at a payroll company we did the payroll for Gamers.com. One time I entered the payroll info, and sneaked a peak at Thresh's salary. That dude was making pretty good money.

I don't think so. He was good but was no god at the game. He could pulverize good players, but the best players are up and down from tourney to tourney. Thresh was no different.

Well, I don't care what anyone says about him or how much he sucks now. He owned ass back in the day. I still have the original .dem file of him winning that one match to win John Carmack's ferrari. Later on a few quakers got better than him, though...

Hah, how funny, i happened to stumble across a few of his demos a couple of days ago. He was r0cking the hell out of the second-placed guy in PGL.

No, he was different.
He played the UK champ at an excibition, and beat him senseless...something like 23 frags to 0.
What did he have...4 world championships?

Im sorry but that isnt true. he beat everyone from all over. He lost once to Immortal like 9-7 or something. Thresh game back to win the tournament by beating Immortal 53 to -1

Some of the Q3 players of today who say they can beat him is full of sh1t also. They were still playing Quake 1 because they were scared to face him in Q2.

The PGL was never the top brass of gaming. If you think it was then too bad. It had cash prizes, but no relevance to the quality of the players. It is pretty silly to hold the PGL matchups across the internet then the championship is on a LAN. Too much cheating was possible. The biggest farce was letting the little prick set up his "game settings" before the matches. Thresh cranked down the resolution and turned off the gibbs. He figured out long before it was common knowledge that latency and frame rate is the way to go in the Quake series.

Thresh was god of FPS, and he still can be if he started playing again.

In the Ferrari Tournament (Red Annihilation) he never lost a match, and won the final game 14 to -1. During his time, there were gamers with equal (or even slightly better) aim and reflexes than Thresh. But Thresh's 1on1 strategies really separated him from the pack.

I should add that the demos of his quake1/quake2 matches are definitely worth seeing. No one controlled the maps like Thresh ;)
