So what else do I need

Got a wii for the kids for xmas, the basic system from walmart. They currently have a gamecube so all that stuff will work. What else should I have. I do need an extra remote so they both can play, anything else. Maybe a game or two ages 7 and 9. Their favorites for the gamecube are mario cart and lego starwars. Need to be budget friendly as possible.

Thanks Todd

Get Wiiplay, will give you another mote along with another party type game. Look at the hot deals section and you can pick up the monoprice wiimote charger to save on battery cost (along with getting some component cables if you don't have them).

Seconded on getting WiiPlay. It's $50, you get a controller and some minigames that are amusing at best. Might as well pay the extra $10 for the minigames if you're going to get another controller anyway.

You should also get them a 360 or a PS3 so they can play some real games.

<--- owns a modded Wii and all it does is collect dust.

You must have missed the part where he has a pair of kids <10. GC/Wii would be the best for them.

Get them Mario Party 8, maybe Rayman, Wii Play definitely. Also 4 Wiimotes + 4 Nunchucks = only way I have fun with the Wii.

i don't think you need the nunchuks for mario party 8, but most other games do need it in some of the minigames.

WiiPlay is kind of Wiik, but worth it for the remote. Rayman is a ton of fun but the second one is coming (soonish?). Mario Party 8 is pretty fun with other people. Warioware is a greate game too.

Damn, that's some early Christmas shopping.

It is very unlike me, but we had the money and as scare as these things seem to be I figured that if we found one we needed to buy it. Any other hardware we need other then extra controllers.

You don't need anything other than the extra controllers. Several new accessories debuted at E3, but I don't think you NEED them.

I second the Wii Play suggestion. My friend and I really like the tank game, and we're both 38.

Definitely make your TV room Wii-safe. Especially with younger kids. Even more when they become teenagers!

I like Mario Party 8. My friend and his 2 sons (5 and 12) love Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
