Every review or mention of an apple product on any of the tech sites leads to a torrent of commenters talking about "my samsung tablet does this", or "the gpu benchmark on that is better". Just go to engadget or gizmodo and find the first article mentioning the new ipad to see an example.

Just who are these folks, and what motivates them? Is this the remnants of the ever shrinking PC enthusiast domain lashing out at conformity in technology? Does it drive them nuts that people are starting to buy technology without concern for the specs, as long as the device works? Do they not feel wanted anymore since their parents are not constantly asking them to resolve a driver conflict or update antivirus software, even though they always claimed how annoying it is?

These people seem to think they are the purveyors of the technology space or something. I guess it's akin to the hardcore bikers with full custom bikes seeing some weekend rider from the suburbs out on his 100% stock harley.

Nothing good shall come of this

1. Success brings envy.
2. They think specs/tweakablity matters to anyone but hardcore geeks.
3. They are peasants who can't afford iPad.

they are the folks who believe Steve Wozniak got shafted by Steve Jobs
i.e. the techie vs. the slick marketing guy
geeks always root for the nerd (Wozniak) against the jock (Jobs) , they are projecting their lives onto the creators of Apple, Inc

Concerns for the technological know-how of other people?

Granted we will always need our pure technologists that work at a lower level in the technology space. I have 10+ years of VB, .NET experience, yet don't know a lick about low level memory management, because I don't have to. A seasoned C programmer probably thinks I'm an idiot.

Well, you .NET and Java guys think you're immune to memory/resource leaks until your server crashes on you because some idiot decided to allocate a fuckton of objects in a loop or something.

I thought we did it just to piss off the apple fanboys? Kind of like posting in creationist/gun/tipping/sports/PETA threads.

Kind of like mentioning that the Airbook uses 6063 aluminum while the Thinkpad uses vastly superior 7075T aluminum alloy for the chasis. Not really saying that Apple makes crap but it could be better.

Edit: Now that this thread has been moved from OT to the apple board, please note that I have no idea what alloy the Airbook or Thinkpads use. Carry on.

This.

It brings to light iFanboys incessant inferiority issues (quad word score), which are fun to ridicule and deride.

While I sort of understand the phenomenon of the Apple fanboi, the idea of someone being excited by Windows completely escapes me.
