So what domestic cars don't feel cheap?

I know this isn't a thing where all domestics are bad, and all imports good or anything. However I have been looking for decent used car, in the sub 13k market. Looking around there were a lot of good deals for domestics and a few for imports. Some cars looking good were:

Pontiac Grand Prix
Olds Alero
Olds Intrigue

So I went and test drove an 2000 Olds Intrigue tonight. That 3.5l 215hp v6 was pretty darn nice (gotta be cause the car weighs in at 3500lbs) but the rest of the car just felt cheap, like it wouldn't age well. My current car is a '96 Dodge Avenger and I've never been really impressed with the quality of the interior it was a lot better than the Oldsmobile. So should I just stay away from any cheaper General Motors cars or what?

You best best for a car is to stay with chry/dodge for a car. The LHS has a really nice fit and trim. The concord is also nice. We have a 00 buick regal GS 3.8 Supercharged which is mechanically nice but the fit and finish sucks big time. It's built on the same line as the olds intrrique so stay away....

If you want Built well I advise a truck. the Dodge and Fords 3/4 tons are bullit proof. I have a 99 F-350 4x4 that I beat to hell and back and it's still whisper quite inside the cab. And it gets 21 mpg with the diesel engine. Not bad for 8200 lbs.

But all in all the german and japanese cars are still the best.

My brother has a 2001 Olds Alero. I haven't driven it, but it looks pretty nice and doesn't feel cheap to me. Compared to my Cutlass Supreme, well, compared to my Cutlass it might as well be a Rolls Royce. ;)

Oh I just wanted to add if you are tall you best bet is a new beetle. They have more head room than any car I've driven. If they did'nt look so girly I would have one. The diesel gets 58 mpg!!!

Buick would really be about my only recomendation for a *decent* domestic. They consistently rank at the top of quality over other cars.

Other bet may be a used Lincoln LS. They have pretty crappy resale, but are still pretty decent cars. Also, look into a used Olds Aurora as well. Their resale is pretty terrible as well, which works in your favor.
