So what does the new process in the surface pro 2 offer?

According to an article in Gizmodo, the Surface Pro 2 received a mid-cycle refresh, where the Intel Processor used went from a Y series to a U series. Anyone know what real-world benefit we should expect?

It just went from a Core i5-4200U to a 4300U. It's 300MHz faster (GPU 100MHz faster) and has a few more features for running VMs.

It's just a higher binning, but 4200U and 4300U costs about the same, and the real-world performance is negligible. I currently have 4200 and 4300 one running side by side (RMA exchange due to the faulty december firmware update)

I know it's negligible. But I have a feeling a lot of people are suddenly going to find a reason to RMA their Surface Pro 2 now. :p

Hmm I have MS complete on my Surface Pro 1...RMA incoming perhaps lol! Maybe I'll wait until they're out of stock on the OG 128GB model xD

Bingo

I would've just dealt with my machine's problems before, but now I want a new machine.

It's a better way to do the business than "extra $100 for extra 100 MHz" practice, for sure.

From what I've read, seems like you want Production Lot 1350 and up. 1350 lot has a mixture of 4300 and 4200, while 1351+ are all 4300. I got my replacement from lot 1352, so it came with 4300.

FYI.
