So what do you think of this setup??

Gonna be selling the MB, CPU, and RAM i have in my sig
and im prob gonna get this...

IT7 MAX2 ver 2.0
P4 2.4B
CORSAIR 512mb Platinum CAS 2-2-2

the only thing im not sure about is the RAM soooo many choices out there
ither Corsair or Mushkin or OCZ or maybe even GeIL(has anyone tried this ram how is it??)

any suggestions??

Does it have to be a DDR system??? Rambus is still the fastest soultion for the P4 processors, even though Dual channel DDR has more bandwith, the RAMBUS is still the fastest. PC-1066

I would DEFINITELY stick with DDR over RDRAM. Yeah, I do hate Rambus, but RDRAM is done. SiS is apparently coming out with a PC1200 board for RDRAM, but Intel chipsets are all DDR from here on out. RDRAM will only be marginally faster in the present, and in the future, RDRAM won't be around.

Also, if you wait, I've got some Geil on the way (ordered two sticks and one was the wrong model) and I'll let you know how it is. I haven't heard anything bad about them, so I don't see why not. I've heard that they're not bad, and they at least follow their timings, which at PC3500 2-6-3-3-1T aren't too shabby!

Oh, I should mention, though, that the Geil RAM is only rated for DDR434 with 2-6-3-3-1T when the VDIMM is set to 2.6V. It's just slightly above the normal spec of 2.5V, but it's worth mentioning.

cool thanks let me know how those RAMS turn out

it is also so much harder to find good quality PC1066 RAM

thats why im sticking with DDR

$360 for the mobo and processor sounds high. personally i woudl go with one of the new nforce2 boards with XP processor and same about $100.

thats expensive .... (i'd also go with an AMD solution currently) but it looks really nice ....

as far as the ram is concerned ... with no OC .. cas 2 pc2700 should be fast enough for the 333 ram speed .. if you are gonna be doing some heafty OCing .... than good luck finding some fast ram at a good price

thats still gonna be around $300

the problem with Nforce2 is none have 4 IDE channels onboard

I won't consider a board with less than that personally. I run 5 drives in this system, plus I like having an empty spot for drive diagnostics or data recovery.
