sorry for the really newbie question, but the previous car i used was so old i didn't really bother with this stuff...

so i was thinking i should at least get rainx and something for the leather seats (to keep it supple or whatever)...
 
Leather conditioner for the seats. Preferably Meguire's or Mother's. RainX has pros and cons. Typically it only lasts 1-3 months, it can be a pain to apply without hazing, and it tends to make the wipers less effective if you need to use them.

I have never had the hazing problem with RainX and it works *wonders* for rain and snow. If you still are not sure, try it on a willing person's car. It is amazing IMO.
