So, what do we actually like to shoot?

We make so many gear-oriented posts, but it seems to me that we seldom talk about actually taking pictures, and what we like to shoot.

I've found that I most like taking photos of the local wildlife. It's fun, occasionally adventurous - I once fell thru the ice-covered lake while photographing a muskrat - challenging, and educational. The irony is that I discovered I enjoy this after purchasing my Pentax K100D, which reportedly has slower AF than other entry-level DSLRs and a very small memory buffer.

So how about you guys? Is there a particular genre of photography you prefer above the others, and have you tailored your gear acquisitions to accommodate that?

still life (flowers, insects, etc), wildlife, zoo wildlife, and most of all - traditional landscape.

I do not enjoy photos of people or their pets.

I just bought a 35mm rangefinder from the 60's - it's lens is really for portraits or street photography (45mm - or about 72mm in dslr terms). Also have a Diana - so no - I haven't tailored my gear for my style of photography :)

Babes. Hooters girls especially, they are camera hogs. All I have to do it take the pics home, edit them (poorly) and print them off for 50 cents a piece at the local Office Depot. They look good and the girls love them. Gets me lots of extra hugs & kisses.

Have been taking the editing and shooting more seriously. Getting a new lens and have been reading tips here at AT.

People and bugs. I'm not really into landscape stuff, but maybe I'd get into if I got a wider lens.

Betsy's a cutie!

I enjoy photographing my pets, too - I try to get 'em when there's something happening, not just the typical "this is my cat on the sofa" shot.

Landscapes are more difficult for me, because I lack the creative sense for interesting composition. Something I try (sporadically) to improve.
