i always believed that your standard over the counter cold medication actually fights the virus infection in your body. but i noticed that whenever i'm sick, it doesn't matter how much medicine i take, it still can take several weeks for me to feel better. so now, i'm leaning towards the body fighting the virus infection, and the medicine masking the symptoms of the body's immune system.

so what do you think? if cold medicine just masks the symptoms of your own body's defense system, what's the point in taking medicine?
