I would stay with parents if they are good folks if you are in driving distance of your college. You can save a crap load of money on room and forced meal plans. Plus, if you have a hard field of study, trying to sleep in a dorm when you are used to it being quiet is horrible. I HATE dorms, people are loud, pull fire alarms at night for fun, death metal playing when you are trying to sleep for an organic chemistry test in the morning and a guy pissed in the hall the other night. But, I am also here to learn and not party, so my interests conflict with the people in my dorm. I will leave and go to USM next year to save money, as I no longer need to worry about med school, since I switched majors.

UCONN at Storrs. A lot of fun, BIG place and always lots to do. Weather was sometimes a drawback. Beautiful place in the spring and fall, absolutely miserable place when you've got a long walk to your next class in winter.

Northwestern U frosh...
I like my field of study and it's school, but a lot of the student body, dorm, and roommate I have very little respect for.

That's why I'm there. To learn, but I've also found out that I might as well give up on being the smartest kid in my class. I live at home, but I'm on campus till about 10-11ish every night. Been to a couple of parties and they've been great...But yeah, I can see what you're sayin..

Smartazz, I've been told it's a rite of passage, and I intend to do it next year....

Still there? My girlfriends sister goes there... That's assuming you meant Dickinson...

EDIT: In my last semester at a small crappy PA state school, Mansfield University.

Michigan State University...

I like it for the most part.

Although, I've applied for a transfer to UBC-Vancouver... I saw the campus this past summer... Mountains + Ocean do it for me. Plus, I'd be able to snowboard school-year round... not so much here. Assuming I get in (I have a very high GPA right now) I'll probably be out there next fall.

Currently at the University of Alabama and I love it, even if Chris Capps is the worst athlete in the history of civilization.

University of Florida. It's great here but the grad school here isn't what I'm looking for. Going out of the country for grad school instead.

Rice University, currently a Junior Mechanical Engineering student.

I love it here, wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I'd recommend on-campus housing here, but that may vary school-school.

Stanford '06. Loved it.

Now law school at Cal, which I enjoy just as much, ironically.

Currently at Texas Tech. Its alright, so far everything has been mostly great. In all honesty though if it werent for money, I'd be at a different school. I'd probably be happier at A&M since I was going to college right next door and have a ton of friends at A&M, but uh like I said money($12k is hard to turn down). If Texas had accepted me Id be there, but the bastards denied me. If it wasnt for that stupid top 10% law, I probably would have been able to transfer in to UT. Between 75% of incoming students falling under the top 10% law, and all the in system transfers, its pretty difficult to transfer to UT from a junior college.

U of Washington for undergrad and now grad. Liking it now, liked it then.

I'd highly recommend on campus housing for the first year or two. I enjoyed my undergrad years while still doing ok in school no problem and I actually felt like I was doing something different not just HS 2.0. Friend lived off campus with parents and his college experience just didn't seem as rich (from his mouth) though if my roommate was gone for the weekend he'd sometimes stay over to hit parties and such. For me after a couple years dorm and party life got old, but it was definitely a great experience and really helped come out of my shell so to speak.

Two years at Georgia Tech. I love the school; Atlanta's... well, Atlanta's not terrible. :p Had to leave and return home for health reasons (physical and mental).

I'm now studying at the University of New Orleans. Tulane would be more convenient, but more expensive, and frankly, UNO needs all the students they can get, and they will more readily overlook my crappy transcript. (What can I say, I look bad on paper.)

Went to the University of Michigan and had an okay time there. Got a great degree and got a great paying job out of college.

Probably would have enjoyed a smaller private school like Duke or Northwestern more though.

Berkeley for undergrad- pretty good experience. I kind of wish the classes weren't so big, and it wasn't all about the competition, but overall it was a good time.
