So what cleaning chemicals smell like sulfur?

Just got back to my hotel room & my entire floor reeks of sulfur. It's overwhelming as soon as you step off the elevator.

They say the cleaning lady spilled "some chemicals" and never reported it, now the entire floor smells. To make matters worse they decided to spray perfumed air freshener all through the halls so now it kinda burns to breathe.

Any ideas as to what chemicals (or mix) would smell like sulfur?

Do I really want to be in this, or should I go hang out in the lobby for a while?

Getting a new room isn't an option, they're sold out. The windows don't open, and they would probably frown on me tossing my chair out.

Go down to the desk and ask for them to pay for a room at another hotel.

Not worth the time and effort, it's not my money paying for this room so it wouldn't benefit me. Nor would credited nights, etc. I've been here since the 3rd and will be here until the 25th, so moving out for one night isn't particularly appealing.

[EDIT]Assuming it dies down in a few hours in my room at least... If it's still here in a few hours I will consider that.[/EDIT]

I would demand that they get you a similar room at another hotel immediately. Complain enough - they will do it.

sulfuric acid??

Kaboom is one brand of bathroom cleaner that I've suspected to have sulfuric acid (or some other sulfur compound) in it. I smell sulfur when I use it, and it turns yellw when it hits the soap-scummy grime on the shower wall. It could be a similar cleaner.

Could also be liquid drain cleaner.
