Do I need a tin foil hat yet?

In addition to my comments above, Robert has inspired the observation that out of 43 presidents, we have had 4 successful assassinations, one possible assassination, and IIRC, twelve attempts.

I think it's a mistake to assume the GOP trolls on this forum have a thick skin.

McCain had a serious form of cancer that could quite obviously spring up again without notice, something neither LBJ or FDR had. He was also tortured and probably not fed all that well for 5 years in Vietnam. Without question, McCain's medical history is at least as worrisome as FDR, LBJ, or practically any president, and his age just makes it that much more worrisome.

Anyone who is honest knows McCain could very well die in office, and that there's a greater than single digit chance it'll happen.

considering that McCain has regular checks, knows what to look out for, and takes appropriate precautions, I wouldn't say that his history of cancer is a terribly worrisome thing.

I'd be more concerned about developing alzheimer's or other mental problem associated with age than McCain dropping dead in the oval office.

Perhaps, but cancer is not predictable and melanoma isn't exactly a sparse killer. If we knew how to time, correct, and keep cancer remission permanent, it would save millions of lives every year. Things like this worry me if I'm a John McCain supporter.

Isn't it obvious by now? (hint; he's a macro on crack).

A US senator probably has the best health care plan available, but I'm concerned about his daily prescription intake. His history of disabilities makes me wonder if he has been taking some form of painkillers on a daily basis for years. The HIPAA laws protect him from the tabloids looking for something scandalous, but even Obama has accused him of erratic behavior.

edit- corrected HIPAA reference

stop pussy-footing around the fact that you are a piece of shit

Do you have anything to contribute except to swear at jpeyton? That's a pretty worthless contribution...
That's basically what Nick has been reduced to lately. How sad. Spending his days reading my posts, then replying with outrage and personal attacks.

I pretended to care the first few times; now I just appreciate his nested quotes and free bumps.

Of course he has it. Doesn't mean you need to be a dick about it.

He'll probably murder young guys for parts to keep himself alive. Oh wait, he's already doing that.

The melanoma isn't that big of a deal if he has regular screenings. It's a silent killer in cancer, most are, but once it's advanced you won't know you have it at all. One day you'll wake up throwing up non stop with crazy headaches...by that time the cancer has spread to your brain and you're a dead man within months TOPS.

My father died from melanoma, and he didn't know anything was wrong with him until that happened.

Well, his father died at 70 and his grandfather at 61, so I wouldn't really use the example of his mom.

In fairness, we should look at the Obama Biden side of the ticket. Biden nearly died because of an weak blood vessel almost 20 years ago, and he is 65 now. Obama is a fairly young guy, but he lost his mother in 1994, when she died of Uterine cancer at age 52. As for Obama's father, its difficult to access his genes, because he died in an auto accident. As for brains, both of Obama's parents had them in spades if one
ranks anything by academic achievements and social activism. As somewhat an interesting aside, during Barack Obama's high school years, Barack mother somewhat despaired regarding Barack's social conscience,
as he was seemingly interested in only basketball, but as we see, his mother's worry was unfounded,

As for McCain and Obama, both are products of highly unusual families, and seemingly propelled by birth into public life.

A better question to ask yourself is whether or not it is worth the risk of having Palin as Pres period. Even if you are not an Obama supporter, the US is not going to go up in flames if he is elected over McCain. There will hopefully be better Repub picks to come in the future. What none of us need is Palin becoming #1. It's just not worth the risk. Continuously trying to find justifications as to why that would never happen is not changing any of the problems we will face if it does happen. It only needs to happen once...

You can't apply statistics that include all of the "Joe Six Packs" in the country to a wealthy man like McCain. He can afford the best care. If Fidel Castro can survive as long as he has, McCain can survive another 4 years when he has no current health problems.

I tend to agree, but are you willing to risk it considering Palin? Is it worth the gamble?

Only McCain himself knows if he has health problems. Remember Tim Russert? He did fine on stress tests 2 months prior to him dropping dead at work. There was no warning. He was only 58.

any one of us could die in the next 30 seconds with no warning, Obama included.

it's not a great argument unless the election was like McCain vs Claire Bennet.
