so what are the chances my cable modem's fried?

thunderstorms on thursday.
internet goes out.
Call comcast.
voice message about outages in my area.
wait.
nothing happens
futz with router (off/on/reset)
futz with modem (off/on)

can't get an IP

call comcast.
they say it should be working now.
pings my modem, apparently gets something back
has me unplug/replug again.
nothing.
have an appt thurs.

If he gets a ping back maybe some wiring or filters are messed up in his box and is intefering with your connectivity. Do you have to pay for the appointment? I sure hope not.

Could be the modem, I went to the local office of Charter, they swapped mine out, this post is proof
