I know that the 1700+ L's are becoming quite scarce, and where you find them they are going for ~90 or some crazy thing, and the higher volt U stepping is 43 at newegg but doesnt take an OC as nicely. Are the 2100+ B's worth looking into? I'm going to upgrade my mobo, have a Volcano 7 and kingston pc2700 ddr. So, what cpu should i shoot for? i'm looking for the most mhz for the buck. :)

slk900 w/ a zalman zmf2, x-dreamer case and whole fan system on a rheobus.
@1.8v these are the temps: (cpu/mb)
System Quiet: ~40ºC/30ºC
System Silent: ~50ºC/33ºC
Ambient temp is 22ºC
I run SOB so I don't worry about idle temps, but before I installed SOB the cpu was ~34ºC.

What is your current motherboard? Also, if that is Kingston ValueRam I would not expect it to run 200mhz or anything. Also, for a good overclock you will need a better heatsink. Personally, I think the googlegear DUT3C is worth it. Even if it is only 2ghz, i doubt you will miss the extra 200 or 300mhz much. Nearly all Tbred B processors can hit 2ghz and most at the stock voltage. The extra $40 between the DLT processor is better spent elsewhere.

my AIUHB is at 2275mhz, at 1.65v, and air cooled with PAL 8045. I have seen at least thirty reports of 2.5GHZ with AIUHB.

Current? k7s5a :p, Working my ass off to get a nforce2 with raid (perhaps 8rda+, or the like).

And yes its valueram i think, anyone have a report of how many MHz it'll take? If it'll push like ~185 or something i wouldnt be to depressed, even if i have to slow the timings to get it..

Hey! i got a k7s5a, too! just bought the 1700+ from newegg for 43 bucks, and I will be running some cheapo pc2700 ram on it, just for a little extra bus speed wiggle room. ;) If you look you can find new/modified bios's that will allow you to control voltages(pretty sure), bus speeds, and clock multipliers. look for "honey x" and "cheapoman". Although you probably already know that. Usually you can get these mobos to run stable at 142mhz bus speed at least.

Also a hot tip: The sis735 chipset runs HOT. That crappy little gold heatsink isn't allowed to do it's job due to the fact that it is glued on with that thermal heatsink tape. Feel it as it runs it barrely feels warm. Twist it off, clean it, put some proper grease on it and a couple dabs of superglue at the corners to hold it firm. Now feel the heatsink, it's almost hot to the touch. Better yet take a old 486 heatsink and glue that puppy on. Bet'ya that will make things more stable at high bus speeds!

I'll tell you how my experiments go...

1700+ "L" 307 from excaliberpc running at 215x11=2365mhz @ 1.7v. Idle temp is 35C, surfing temp is 38-39C and load is 42-44C.
