Well, I don't think it's a good idea to depend so heavily on China for our microchips in general, shortage or not.

Domestic production of critical products should be a higher priority. It's crazy how countries rely so much on other countries for stuff. I did not realize the EU relied on Russia for gas for example. Why in the world would you set yourself up for that?! A lot of political conflicts could actually be fixed if countries were more self sufficient.

sometimes you don't have the thing you need, like the EU and NG. LNG is a lot more expensive, just ask japan.

It's really kind of funny how tragically uninformed you are. Yes, the world would probably get along better if everyone had their own endless supply of desired natural resources. But we're stuck on this particular planet that didn't end up with an even distribution of them, imagine that.
