So we're listening to Evanescence at work today...

...out loud...hooked up to this guy's 3-piece system with subwoofer...so badass! I hadn't heard of them much before Daredevil came out...but they're pretty good. Before I had only heard that one song they play over and over on the radio..but I gotta give 'em more credit after hearing the album! I'll have to keep an eye out for them coming to town...I heard most of their shows are pretty cheap...

I think I've heard Amy's voice before...perhaps in a few electronica/deep house tracks (didn't she sing over a track by Sirius?)

Earlier we were listening ot the 'Philosopher Kings'??? Kinda mellow.

this isn't an album (like many these days) with 1-2 "hits" and then a bunch of filler

i keep trying to figure out which songs on the album are the "bad" songs, i can't do it! :Q

LOL...of course I've seen that thread (and browsed the entire photo album) but you have to understand where I'm coming from first:

I don't listen to goth music. I don't like the whole goth scene. I heard this song first on the radio and when I saw Daredevil opening night. I found out who it was by, and figured 'Bring Me to Life' was a 'crossover' hit created just for the movie and Top 40. A song engineered to sell albums and movie tickets. I didn't know how long the band had been around. I thought their other stuff would be ALL hardcore goth stuff.

So then I saw your thread (like, before you went to any of the shows) and I was intrigued. Intrigued, but I didn't go buy the album. I had to hear it first. Today was my first opportunity to hear the whole thing. Needless to say, I wish I'd picked this up from CC back when it was on sale...but I'll still pick it up!

THEIR ALBUM RULES!!! ALL THEIR SONGS ARE AWESOME! the last time an album was like that was when boyzIImen came out w/ their "2" album...

I wouldn't categorize them as 'Goth'.

no me neither , one of the quotes by the band is (not exact, but close)

"we want to be known as a Rock band"

bands always get labeled , for good or bad

but i think Rock band is best suited to them

I've listened to a few of their songs.

Decent, but nothing to get excieted about.

Maybe I'll give them another listen in a week or so. See if I like them more.

not everybody is going to like them, of course

but a lot of people that like Rock and listen to all the songs on the CD will be happy they did

oh and BTW , the guitars sound even better live than on the CD, amy's voice sounds great regardless

I don't know about that. Check out Hammerfall's "Crimson Thunder" from last year. Every song is close to perfection.

Evanesence is a pretty good band but they are already becoming overated. There are plenty of weaker songs on their album. Also their songs tend to sound too identical to each other.

I disagree. Good thing everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I actually didn't care for her voice very much, sounded kind of hollow or something. And the dude's reminds me of Linkin Park. I have only heard 2 songs off of the soundtrack my buddy had, but it didn't really get my motor going so to speak.

Well, Rock is my favorite genre.

I just listened to My Immortal, and I like that one.
