SO we wanna go green? Why arent the street lights all LED's?

Why don't they replace all of the street lights with the LED ones. That could probably help with electricity in the city...Maybe im just talkin out of my a$$
 
Was asked before. Isn't it just expensive as heck? Can LEDs really light the streets that well?

If you replaced all the existing streetlights with LEDs, you'd fill the landfills with (possibly) toxic bulbs and whatnot.
 
What are they using right now? fluorescent? candescent? Led wouldnt be that much more i dont think. And if it was, it would save money in the long run.
 
They had LED stop lights in the last city I lived in. They were fine except for this one intersection that was just blinding bright at night. I had real troubles with that intersection.
