Normally it only wants to bathe if it hears rain. So I downloaded a 'rain.wav' and played it. Worked like a charm - we have a bathed cockatiel.

Umm...we're talking bird, right? Why not just spritz it with a water bottle?

Well you don't want to spritz in their cage due to the moisture/bacteria and stuff - so you take them somewhere like the bathroom, etc.

Every try to spritz an unwilling bird with flight feathers?

It is supposed to be good for them to get their skin wet once in a while. If the bird does not want to bath, it will keep it's feathers matted down - and no water will reach it's skin (oil and such reflects the water) - but if they want to bathe, they will puff their feathers and expose their skin - it is quite the site.

When I get my new cam, I'll use the video mode to chronicle a bath :p

Aww, I love cockateils. I have one at home. if you ever want it to talk, you might want to get rid of the mirror. My mom has had birds since she was a child, and said if you give them a mirror, they won't imitate you. Mine will copy my whistle (he does the wolf-call, and some other cool things), and he will say his name. When he says his name, he will actually say "Say <name>", kinda funny.

Ours wolf calls. Unfortuantly, it is almost 7 or 8 years old, and the previous owners kept the cage in a spare bedroom on the floor with no toys all alone for years.

Needless to say the bird has issues. It has a large cage full of toys mid living room. We work alot sometimes, and found with the mirror it does not become as needy. Though on weekends it lives on my wife's shoulder or mine.

aww :(

I really want to get a bird (love them) but I probably shouldn't because I don't think I can spend that much time with it.
