My last experience with websense was when it was hosted from NT4.0. I found it to be highly succeptable to DDOS attacks from the inside....

You didn't hear that here ;)

Still on dial up.

Broadband will finally be available and installed in my house this Monday!!! So I will probably set up a web proxy from home. I will need to research on how to do this since I am pretty bad at networking stuff.

Is surfing from remote desktop acceptable?
Remote desktop (ultarvnc) using my LAN sometime is sluggish so I imagine doing it over (broadband) can be like browsing using dialup.

Really depends on your upload speed. I have 368kbps up here and if I'm not uploading anything (bittorrent) it's actually very tolerable. Embedded videos on the other hand tend to be slide shows though.

I work for one of the govt agencies and they block very, very little. What always amazes me is that they don't block YouTube, but they block streaming video from news websites! I guess they don't mind me watching Olbermann tear up Bush, but I can't watch news from Iraq. If I could tell you which agency it is you'd laugh at the irony of it all.

They had gamespot, ve3d, gamerankings, youtube and myspace at least blocked at my place. They may have blocked ve3d cause of me since it was fine for most of the summer, but it got blocked near the end. And guess who went there every day... Strangely, they didn't have web msn blocked, but lots of people somehow got yahoo messenger installed. I got Windows Live messenger installed, but I had access to an administrator account. I think I may have helped get some more sites blocked after doing a department wide software audit:frown:.
