so we are going to war...

this is pretty much obvious...and I have a few thoughts about this...please no flaming

1. I might not understand all the different reasons why we have to go to war right now, and not give it a little more time so that we could gather up more allies, but I do understand that we have to support our president, our most importantly our troops.

2. I have this feeling that this isn't just going to be a quick, get in blow Saddam up, and get out kind of thing. I can see this being a long, drawn out, horrible war, with Saddam using all kinds of nasty weapons on our troops, on his own people, and on his surrounding countries. I can see Saddam trying to lure Israel into the war just to get more allies. I am not sure if Israel would just sit there and twirl their thumbs if Saddam launched some chemical or bioligical weapons at them. I also worry that if Saddam does use his weapons of mass destruction, Israel, Turkey, or maybe even the U.S. will counter with nuclear weapons.

3. After the "summit" today, I really realized that the war will start soon. I thought about how many lives are going to be affected tremendously by this. I thought about the president, and I hope he is at peace with himself and not fretting about taking this huge step. I thought about the hundreds of thousands of our troops, who are going to be risking their lives, some losing their lives, for a cause that is thousands of miles away from their homes. I thought about the Iraqi people, who are for sure worried and unsure about their future. Some of those Iraqi people are going to die. Some Iraqi guy who works at the hairspray factory or wherever, will be mopping the floors, trying to make ends meet for his family, will be killed by a huge bomb.

4. We all don't agree on the war. We all don't agree on a lot of issues, but please, can we all agree to support our troops, and make it clear that we are on their side. They are about to undergo what is sure to be the most stressful and demanding time of their lives, and they are doing it for us. We are all Americans, let's get back to being united and strong.

God bless America
