Call me picky, but I have a policy about calling people my friends without actually knowing anything about them.
 
They have to accept your invitation to become friends I think...so no..you can't just be friends with whomever you want.

I don't know why people are so down on Myspace. I've been able to find a lot of old high school friends because of it.

I'm guessing you would talk to them, like you would in the real world. If you hit it off, you could go meet them, like people do in the real world 🙂

FYI, I actually don't use it for that (yet), I use it for catching up and staying in touch with old friends. I have 120+ friends on my list and I know all of them.
