so value RAM is good enough...

A while ago I read about the difference between using high end ram with overclocking or the cheapest value RAM and overclocking with a memory divider. The results showed that value RAM is the better choice unless you look forward to spending twice as much on memory and get ~3% (on the optimistic side) performance gains.

Then I looked at Corsair valueRAM, and it was great. But now I look into my wallet and find a BestBuy and a Futureshop gift card, and I need a way to use them...

Problem is Futureshop and BestBuy offers brands that not heard of in the enthusiast community like Azenram, HyperX, Kingston, and K-Byte. Anyone know if these brands are good?

they're known but if you're searching for value ram, aren't you looking for a cheap stick?

I'm looking for a cheap stick, but like avoiding poor power supply brands like Diablo, I'd like to know if these brands are reliable.

Typically it wouldn't matter unless you plan on keeping the RAM for a long time. Then you'd want something from a reputable vendor with a lifetime warranty. Out of the brands you listed Kingston (and HyperX which is a Kingston product) is the most easily recognized. I'd say just go with whatever's cheapest, if anything goes wrong you can just take it back to BB and exchange it.

Never heard of them.

I know what you mean about FutureShop, OP.

I wouldn't get RAM there. They overcharge, on a crappy product. Go to a computer shop and get some Kingston Value RAM. I have some in my system, and it's fine. I'm no big overclocker ,and if you're not gonna be, then go for value.

HyperX is a Kingston's "power user" line. Made for overclocking and/or low latencies.
