So UT2k4 runs smooth, has tight net code, and is fun to play.. what went wrong???

I don't get it at all...

UT2k4 is a really good game!! The controls are perfect, the game runs like a charm on higher resolutions, the net code seems to be very well done, the game modes are fun, the game didn't get delayed for years..

So what went wrong?? I mean, a good game in today's day and age?? How could the developers let something like that slip through the cracks?? With the looks of the demo the full version might actually run out of the box with no patches or updates needed. Shocker!! What kind of developers do they think they are, releasing a working product like that. Shame on them!! They should look around them. Don't they see that most games today are being released broken? Don't they know that most of today's games are complete crap?

Oh well.. hopefully they will realize their mistakes and get it right (wrong) next time.

It only took them nigh a decade to get the engine right. Just goes to show if you stick with something, it'll be worth it.

I think he's trying to make a joke, implying that by releasing an actual game that works right is a rare feat today and that they must've screwed up to get it right somehow.

or, its essentially the same as ut2k3 which sucked, but now it has vehicles, the sniper rifle back, better levels, more characters, etc. so maybe its like an uber-patch for ut2k3?

yeah, these devs really screwed up this time. dont they know that by writing buggy code they ensure their job security since now they have work for the next 5 years releasing patches and fixes.

UT2003 is awesome... the new add-ons of UT2K4 suck.. the onslaught mode is dumb, and so is all the other new junk., CTF, TDM, and DM for life :D

exactly my thought -- updating a game is a lot easier and less error-prone than building one from scratch.

UT2k4 has a much more UTesque feel to it than UT2k3 did. I would not say its essentially the same. The DM has that nice classic UT feel, as does the CTF. Everyone seems to hate the CTF, but that seems to mostly be because everyone loves onslaught. At any rate, UT2k4 is not merely a UT2k3 expansion pack.
