So, to flash my firmware on my DVD-R/RW, I have to get into 'real' DOS

The help file says, regarding the firmware, '1. Please upgrade your BIOS in REAL DOS mode, not VIRTUAL DOS.'

How do I get into 'REAL DOS?' I thought WinXP just had that butchered psuedo-DOS, not real DOS?
