So tired of Fedex...why can't Newegg just use UPS???

Man, Fedex is stupid. I swear they are totally incapable of doing one thing right. Of all the orders I've ever had delivered by them, not ONE has been done correctly. It doesn't matter if I have it delivered to my office or home, they are completely unable to accomplish the simple feat of delivering a package.

Last week, I had a Newegg order scheduled for delivery on Thursday. However, Wednesday morning it said it was "on truck for delivery". When I got home, the package wasn't there. Checked the tracking: "Package not scheduled for delivery-returned to distribution center". Nice...so the thing was on the truck ALL DAY but wasn't delivered because technically they didn't have to until the next day. Whatever.

Then, this week, I ordered from Newegg on Monday. The package was scheduled for delivery today. My office closes early on Fridays, and in the past that has made Fedex do even more stupid things (from sending the package back to the originator to LEAVING IT OUTSIDE ON THE STEPS ALL WEEKEND). Yesterday, at about 4:30 I check the tracking, and it said the package had arrived in the local distribution center (which is about 45 minutes away). Knowing about the impending problems with a Friday delivery, I called and asked if it could be pulled so I could just come pick it up. "NO", they said, because it "wasn't even unloaded yet". Right. So, this morning, I check the tracking, and lo-and-behold, they had ATTEMPTED DELIVERY YESTERDAY! So, let's see...one week they take it back even though it's on the truck, the next they attempt delivery. Oh, and of course they didn't get it successfully to me. Why? Because I work at a place that has a mail room. Normal human beings who work in some kind of delivery business would make the connection that you take packages there. But not Fedex. They attempt to find my freaking office. And because they can't (and by can't I mean they walk into the main building, look around for about 5 seconds, determine that it would involve asking someone so just leave) they take the package back and say "customer not available" even though I was SITTING RIGHT HERE!!! So this morning I call Moron Express and explain my problem, and say I'd like to come pick it up. "NO", they say, because it's already back on the truck for delivery. Well, guess what, I'm only working a half day today, and even though there will be people here to receive it in the mail room, of course that's impossible for them to handle. So I ask them if it can be sent to my house instead. "NO", they say, they will only do that if I call Newegg and have them call Fedex and redirect the package. Well, guess what...I've tried that. Know what Newegg says to that? "We'll do it for $10". Huh? You're going to CHARGE me to call Fedex and say about 10 words? No thanks. So, once again my package will end up in the distribution center. Where it will sit all weekend since they're not open. And when I call on Monday to have it picked up they will say "NO! It's on the truck!"

So yeah...I think they're great. Yeah.

Ouch,
I've always had the opposite. Just a few days ago...check tracking #.
1 package in Tennessee, 1 in Indiana.
They got delivered two hours later.

sorry to hear your story. I love FedEx. They always deliver on time and if I'm not home for delivery I just drive down to the FedEx office that night and pick it up.

Personally, I'd rather pay extra and have it actually delivered to me.

I have...they either blow me off or tell me it's not their fault I'm "not there" when they try to deliver it. Last summer, when the left a box from Newegg containing 6 hard drives, a RAID card, and 2 CPUs outside all weekend, I complained, and they said it was up to the driver's discretion.

B/C most NewEgg customers experience great service with FedEx. I've NEVER had a problem with Fedex or packaged shipped from NewEgg via FedEx. They always arrive here within 2 days EVEN using the Saver shipping...and I'm on the EAST COAST!! :D

Everybody has horror stories with EVERY carrier. Nothing new here ;)

I agree, but I've NEVER had ONE successful delivery from FedEc. There's always some problem that comes up, and it never has anything to do with me. Conversely, I've maybe had 1 or 2 problems with UPS, and NEVER a problem with USPS. Therefore, from my point of view, they have a 100% failure rate to do their job.

Only reason I don't like FedEx is because they never leave a package here for me... I know the UPS driver pretty well... he's been on this route for 10+ years. So he leaves packages for me... FedEx guy rings the doorbell that has duct tape on it and a note that says "doorbell is broken, please knock" ... then if nobody comes to the door, he puts a sticker on the door and leaves. And the FedEx place is like 15 miles away. I live in a nice enough neighborhood that things can be left on my doorstep and I don't have to worry about them disappearing... my UPS driver knows that... the FedEx drive can't even read the sign next to my door bell.

They actually found my office once to deliver a package (once again, mail room...we have one...hello?) and I happened to not be there, but the door was open, light was on, and the guy in the office next to me was there. Sticky note: "Attempted delivery-customer not there". Right.

Must be a local driver. Everywhere I lived it has been FedEx > USPS > Anybody else > UPS or USPS > FedEx > Anybody else > UPS

I have never had a UPS driver that has not f0x0red my delivery up unless I was there to receive it from him personally.

In my experience FedEx is WAY more reliable than UPS.

UPS seems to take perverse pleasure in maltreating packages.

It can just be the driver. Don't blame a multi-million dollar company on the practices of one employee.
Our Fedex guy seeks me out in the office building when I get packages from Newegg.
I have to agree with the other posters though, Fedex is better than UPS imo.

Escalate it, they should be able to accomodate you somehow.

If you want FedEx to leave packages without your having to be at home just ask the about putting your signature on file. I did and I never have to sign for packages.

Personally I prefer FedEX also. I think that since UPS became unionized that there serviced has waned.

Yeah, I have...twice. They still don't do it. When I complain about it, they say that they cannot guarantee that the drivers will honor that release.

Exactly... I've filled out the back of that damn sticker at least 5 times and they still never leave packages for me.
