So those door-to-door magazine sales are all basically scams, right?

I just had some guy at the door trying to sell me magazines for some contest thing or something. Slick as hell delivery, and wouldn't leave even after I said no several times. He also asked if he could come inside a couple times. :disgust: I'm just going to stop answering the damn door.

CONFIRMED - Two hot ones earlier this summer. I went outside and talked to them... asked what the deal was and why there were whoring themselves out etc.. they wanted $60 for Maxim FVCK THAT. I then asked if they had ever seen office space with the magazine scam. I told them no several times and finally they just asked for a "donation". I was like what stops you from pocketing the cash and said see ya.

I actually fell for this in college. Bought some mag for like $10. The thing is I actually got my magazines so maybe this was before it became a scam. :p

Some are scams but most are just really crappy sales jobs. I know a chick who did it for a little while and basically the company would get a bunch of hs/college age kids and put them on a bus and drop them off in a town for a few hours then move on to the next town.

sometimes i feel sorry for someone with a door-to-door sales job that might not be a scam, because it's a hard way to make a living. but still i never give 'em the time of day.

This is why I love my "no soliciting" sticker. Of course, the functionality of that sign is predicated upon the revolting prick actually knowing how to read in the first place.

There's only one option: bullet to the head!

Yeah, those fvckers are annoying.

Had a few this summer... $60-$90 subscriptions for $20/year (or less) magazines.

I had two scruffy looking chicks try to con me into just donating $50 in cash for a gift subscription to some children's hospital (this was riiight after I'd seen on the news that this was a scam, this particiular hospital doesn't even accept gift magazine subscriptions)... I told them that I knew... they ran. I'm meaner than they are.
