The new folklore holds that guns are never used by anyone to defend themselves against an attacker. Silly notion you'd use a weapon for self-defence! Total myth.

Guns are only used:
1. to shoot innocent members of one's own family.
2. to commit suicide
3. to go on rampage shootings
4. by cops... (mainly against innocent people).

Somehow since cops can't be trusted with guns, they should be the only ones to have them.

Outlaws will disarm themselves once they realize their guys are only useful for killing innocent members of their own family, or committing sucide.

Something like that.

What arms race? There are plenty of gun-inundated states with European levels of gun violence.

The race to get more/bigger guns than the crims. And those tend to be rural states with nothing worth taking except maybe the cache of guns.

No, they are "bad" because they increase the Murder and Death rates significantly. That woman's success came from the Deaths of others.

Actually "other". All 3 would have been no loss.

And good on the household having that camera system. Whatever jerkoff story any of them could make up about being good lil snowflakes who were really the victims.... stick a fork in that.

Did you read the story posted in the OP?

Here it is.

Begin of quote... ""She exercised her right to defend her livelihood and property," Cpl. Deon Washington with the Gwinnett County Police Department told Channel 2’s Nicole Carr." ....End of quote

The perpetrators broke into a house with guns. What do you think if the homeowner did not have any gun? The perps will just leave in peace? LOL.

The perps reap what they sow. Good ridden.

Don't want to get shot to death by homeowners? Don't break into people homes.

High death rates are a good thing when we're talking about armed robbers. Until we achieve a 100% armed robber death rate, we will have room for improvement.

If that's your argument a fake gun would work just as well. Consider looking into what gun nuts might think of that.

Actually I agree and I think other gun nuts would as well, with the very important caveat that it only works if the robbers can reasonably believe it to be a real gun. Most defensive gun uses do not involve firing at all, and certainly the sound of a round being chambered could be enough to make would-be robbers run.

Pretty much. Racking a round in my 870 will get your attention.

But we do like to shoot stuff.

Maybe video games are the armory devil because my son has no interest in all that it takes to go to the range.

That's fine, but others will still die needlessly due to Gun Proliferation.
