Just because the movie is bad doesn't mean that the medium used to convey that fact is bad. If the movie was good, that same medium will produce more movie-goers.
 
Wow, if this trend keeps up they might be forced to resort to drastic measures, like releasing quality material that people want to see. Any maybe lowering ticket prices so you can see a flick without taking out a 3rd mortgage.

doesn't look like they're denying they have a poor product.
just angry that they can no longer turn a profit with superior marketing.
 
the 'word of mouth' part is true...they used to be able to sucker more people into going to a crappy movie because it took them longer to realize how crappy it was.

I don't think anyone feels sorry for them tho.
