My commute is 12-15 minutes each way (9 miles distance).

Two hours+ each way is just insane. No job is worth that, unless your job is to have sex with Victorias Secret models while eating steak and watching college and NFL football year 'round.

In the dc metro area we have th city, the outcity, the outer outer city, the old burbs, the new burbs, the poor burbs, the rich burbs, and then the outer burbs, which are becomign antoehr set of inner burbs.

IE, in this area, stuff used to get cheaper the farther you got, and people used to have to compensate. Now stuff out herre is really expensive and stuff a little further is even more expensive, so people have to resort to living at INSANE distances from work:(

I can't believe I have to drive 52 miles to visit my uncles in wheaton...it's jsut unbelieveable:(

Living in the suburbs of a major metropolitan area and commuting sucks.
Give up that crap.

It takes you 2 hours to get there and 2.5 hours to get home? Either move closer or find a new job. 4.5 hours of your day * 5 days a week is a little over 13% of your life travelling to and from work.

if it ever takes me more than 30 min to get to or from work, im moving or getting a new job...currently 15 minutes, and i only put up with that cause i listen to books on my ipod

30 minutes? Dang. My current commute is 40-60 minutes, and I don't think that it's all that bad. I've had jobs with commutes upwards of 2 hours, and that was starting to push it just a bit.

Wow, I could never do that. Driving kicks my ass as it is. For me driving is exhausting, so I'd be dead at work after driving 2 hours.

Dude, it's a leisurly 5 minute walk to my work. Granted, it's crappy retail, but I'm a college student, and it beats the drive to school(27.5 miles, 40 minute commute the fastest I've clocked it, 1.75 hours the longest, when NOTHING MOVED).

But I have to agree, spending 2 hours each way commuting doesn't make sense, unless the pay is godly. I wouldn't do it for less than 6 figures.

I used to be 30 minutes from work when I lived in San Antonio. Now in Austin I live 5 minutes from work.

What can I say. I'm just out of HS.

And actually, getting up at 6 was just my first day. Now I wake up at 6:55 and take the bus to the Metro, then arrive at work at around 8:40. So it's more like 1-1:30.

I've found that there are some shorter ways to get home, so I've now reduced my time from 2 hours each way to around 1 hour + each way.

That sucks dude. Save money like crazy and work on making yourself more marketable to other jobs that are closer.

A sh!tty quality of life isn't worth a job in the long term, but you gotta do what you gotta do to survive.
