I've had to deal with my parents' 1970ish RCA wood-encased-nightmare for "quite some time now" and today they come to me with interest in getting a new 36 inch HDTV. They will prolly get it within a month or less, but I wanted some advice as to to what they should get.

Circuit city and BB are the only two options for them as they enjoy the 24mnths/no interest option. This HDTV by toshiba is just gorgeous. THe remote sucks though

Here is a pic

This one is only $500 more but I think we'll stick to something that ftists on our 2-ft-off-the ground-mantle infront of the fireplace

Toshiba makes awesome tubes. I would recommend the CRT over the projection if you're looking for clarity. I've dealt with a projection HDTV before and I just didn't think it was that great. It seemed to be about as clear as a standard TV.

Well, the projection weighs more than the CRT. Also, its for his parents so i doubt they're going to be moving it that much...

Do you really think um I..uhem..my parents want a hugh set of black lines to the left and right on a square box on a rectangular screen when watching hte news?

I didn't think so:D Most programming right now is still 4:3....or at least what they watch. I am trying to make sure that whatever they get is quite large so that Widesreen viewing will be quite enjoyable real-estate-wise.

Keep the advice coming..specific models from BB and CC only.

Thanks
