So these guys who drive the tanks.. When do they sleep?

It seems like they are about to drive for a long time. When they will just get to Baghdad seems like a time when they will be most tired.

How do they work the whole sleeping thing?

I'm guessing they sleep whenever possible. My cousin is in the army in Texas and sometimes he will be out in the field in a tank for days on end with very little sleep.

They sleep while driving while in desert. They just set auto pilot and let it do the driving. The gun man takes over the seat of the driver and just monitors citation while the driver is sitting in the gunmen seat and sleeping

Yep, they sleep in the tank while it is moving in most cases. One guy stays up and drives while the other or others sleep. They were just talking about this on ABC news this evening.

they dont really sleep much. They are actually trained in sleep deprivation.

' There will be plenty of time for sleeping when the work is done.'

A guy I used to work with was in Desert Storm with the 29th Infantry. During the 100 hour ground campaign, he got no sleep. Zero. When I asked him what it was like, he simply said "Surreal."

You'd be surprised how long you can run on adrenaline in those situations. Those troops running continuous ops like that are gonna crash hard when it's all over though. I imagine they'll sleep for at least 18+ hours when it's all done.
