So there's some water stains on my apartment ceiling

My room mate and I noticed two decent sized (one basketball sized, another about 3x as big) water stains in the corner of our living room ceiling, in nice varying shades of yellow and brown. Our only guess is that they're from water leaking in after a heavy rain. I plan to run by the management place after work to let them know.

Is this something we should insist on them fixing right away? Anybody want to guess as to how much time such repairs might take?

And do you think it's possible, if the damage is extensive enough or repairs will take long enough, for us to use this as cause to move to another (more expensive, but we're willing to pay the extra cost) unit in the complex? The trick with that one being that we are only halfway through our lease as it is.

if the roof is leaking, it is in the best interest of the owner to fix it ASAP, it will only get worse and damage the building

it is good you let them know right away

Don't worry, it's structural paint!

I hope not, this is one of the nicer and newer apartment complexes in town. I'd like to think they're a bit better than that.

They came and pulled a clump of hair out of my room mates bathtub two months ago, because she couldn't figure out why it wasn't draining.
