when a very interesting thought occurred to me:
This show fucking SUCKS!

Why the fuck did people watch this shit? Were they really lacking for entertainment so badly in the mid 70's?
I didnt start watching TV until 1984, so all my shows were pure awesome. I don't know what its like to only have crappy stuff available to me.

Wow. I actually started doing the exact same thing when I saw it pop up on Netflix streaming and I came to the complete opposite decision. It was so much better back in the day. You gotta realize the show started as a variety show and then became a sketch comedy show. Either way, old SNL >>>> new SNL.

Akyroid, Chase, Radnor, Curtain, Belushi, etc.. fantastic cast.

Tell the truth, you were dancing in your basement with your imaginary friend.

early SNL was crap. it took a bit to hit its stride. then it bombed out again and made a comeback sometime in the 80's and early 90's.

for the past ten years, however, it's been shit covered shit with shit frosting and shit filling.

edit: with a whipped shit topping and a shit cherry on top.

Only losers watched it during the 70s. Others, like me, were dancing at the disco on Saturday nights.

SNL has been getting better since its dark days 5-7 years ago. I still don't understand why they don't move the show to 9 or 10 pm. My friends and I would be much more likely to watch if we didn't have to choose between bars and SNL.

I'd love to have a few drinks while watching SNL prior to heading out.

Um, we were all high, it was hilarious when you were stoned...

Well yeah. Saturday Night Live has always sucked unless you were stoned (note to my employer: that's why I never watched it, not even once). Anyway, I recall shows from the '70s where people would just wander around on stage for ten minutes at a time doing nothing. The camera would pan the audience who didn't seem to even notice that nothing was happening. It didn't matter, they were all still happy and laughing.
