Sometime around 1pm today, the main cable tv and internet lines were cut when painters outside tried to move the large heavy cable box and it tipped over. The building has 12 condos, one of them mine, and 4 people per condo.. So, my neighbors and I have been calling Cox since 1:30 or so and they kept saying "they'd be out in 2 hours."
Well they weren't.. And Cox was closed.. So, knowing that cable is just a stupid signal, I figured, "Hell.. why can't an alligator clip carry that signal?" I thought maybe it would work for TV channels - but never for Internet..
Turns out, it works for both! LOL.. These pictures are funny..
Wahh.. the box is tipped over
clips on the main line for the building..
closer
that cable's pretty thick..
And.. now I'm back to neffing and watching TV all day..
Hopefully Cox won't get pissed at me when they find this on Saturday.. Yup.. the automated message says they'll fix it not Thursday nor Friday.. but Saturday.. a full 3 days after it happened. Hopefully the clips will hold..
My building owes me $beer.
EDIT: This is me flicking off Odin.. and Odin eats poo too.
UPDATE: A technician calls me from Cox this morning asking if everything is repaired. I tell her about the alligator clips.. And she says they cancel repair scheduling if their systems show everything is reconnected. And, they can bring charges against me! :Q But, she says she won't. And, she tells me to leave things alone if this happens again.
So, I start thinking about it and I don't want charges brought against me.. I call Cox again and ask the technician to put all the notes into his computer. He tells me I do not have to remove the alligator clips unless Cox calls me back and tells me to remove them since all I did was reconnect services we pay for.. Yay.. my ghetto fix is approved by Cox. LOL
