and gfci's.

the gfci breaker will not stay on. it trips no matter what i plug into the gfci circuit. he just did the work 3 weeks ago and we just moved in yesterday.

should he do the work for free?

also, like a moron, he put the outlet for the refrigerator on the GFCI circuit. should he put in a dedicated line for free?

finally, he reused a bunch of circuit breakers from the old box in the new box. 🙁

overall, i'm not very happy with this guys work.
 
no, bhut he should fix it free. A refrigerator doesn't need a dedicated circuit. And it depends on what his proposal said as to whether he should have reused the old breakers.

he did the work for the previous owner because the old box didn't meet inspection standards.

the refrigerator does need it's own circuit according to him. he just didn't do the work before. he says it AFTER i bought the house. if they had told me before i bought the house i would have had the previous owner pay for it.

 
I wouldnt sweat reusing old breakers as long as he didnt charge you for new ones.
As for the GF outlets, he should come out to look at the problem. If its something in the original work (How its wired) then he should fix it for free as it wasnt properly dont to begin with.
If its a problem after the install (Mice chewed the wire)...well....Pony up son.

well.

he can come out and give me an assessment and proposal.

i'll probably do the work myself if he wants to charge me a lot.

the other i should have noticed about this house, all of the electrical outlets need to be replaced, they don't hold the plugs in the outlet. they are way old.

also, i would have prefered he used GF Outlets and not a GFC breaker.

mb i'll have him put a regular breaker in and replace all the outlets with gf outlets.
 
For $5 you can get a small tester that will let you know if your hot/ground/neutral is wired correctly in your GF outlet. Sometimes a mis-wired outlet will pop like that.

Of course... it could also be a defective outlet as well.

Either way, get him back there to fix the problem.
