but the 1080p has a lower resolution and slower gray/gray response. i have a 1080p flat panel, and this Dell 3007 is in a different league.

I was one of the first people to get the 2001fp, and there were some kinks. I quickly replaced it with the 2405. I am wondering how the 3007 (first revision) is going to stack up? Any prelim quality reviews with response times and backlighting?

I am suprised it took so many months to get an answer to Apple's 30 LCD from another source.

for some reason apple is good at being the first to source new technology, like the current 2GB NAND chips used in the NANOs. I am guessing it's just a matter of being able to offer something @ an affordable price point for the rest of the industry whereas apple can introduce something cutting edge and actually charge more.

But, yeah this monitor is crazy, and I can see coupons coming soon !!! ;)

you can get a 50" samsung dlp that does 1080p for under 3k.

http://froogle.google.com/froogle_clust...=Search+Froogle&lmode=&addr=&scoring=p

westinghouse has a 37" lcd that does 1080p for under 2k

look at my sig and monitor ;)

i was thinking he meant LCDTV 1080p input.. there's only 2-3 LCD TV sets that presntly do this: 1) Sceptre 37" (real TV w/ tuner) 2) Westy 37" (monitor only - no tuner) and 3) Sharp 45" GXU (via a "hack). I have owned the Sceptre and Westy now, and was hoping he would give other choices on the LCD front. Note, we're talking 1080p native input over HDMI / DVI, not just 1080p panel. The Sammy you mentioned only has analog input, forgot if its 1080p also.

Then you need to check out the IBM T221. That thing has a .125mm pixel pitch. 22.2" and can display that weird 3840x2400 resolution (albeit at 40Hz) or 1920x1200 at 100Hz or something. Best (worst?) of all, it costs the same as the new Dell 30"!

The Canadian one is cheaper due to no 3 year warranty (1 year is standard there). Costs similar in the end if you add the warranty.

whats the news around the 27?

honestly, after a coupon, i would have still bought it if it had RCA and S-video inputs
