It's still defense, even if it's not a legal one. When armed people break down your dorr looknig for you, and you shoot at them, I'd argue that it's always defensive, regardless of whether or not it's legal.
Either way, that guy's probably in Canada by now.

What other options? They originally tried to serve a warrant on Sunday.
