So I'm in the mall last friday night picking up my sons glasses from the Lenscrafters store and the mall is just loaded with these stupid looking goth kids. What is up with that crap? Dressing like a dead person with 57 earings, noserings, etc hanging out of your face? WTF? Is there some kind of philosophy behind it? Are they trying to look scary or tough? Why? If they think the way they look makes people scared of them they need a reality check. That look doesn't say to me "Don't mess with me or you'll get beat up, maimed, satanic sacrificed, etc..." It says" I'm really pathetic, I can't handle the reality of life so I'll hide here in my freaky little world with other pathetic people who are just like me."

So, really, enlighten me. What is up with those people?

I don't know. There's a few of them at my school. They dress in all black, color their hair strange colors, weird piercings all over their body, boots that go up to their knees..one girl has hair that has three spikes, one stands straight up and is about 20" tall. :confused:

theyre not real goth if they hang out at the mall.

just kids being kids. i think its stupid too. but high school kids are usually that.

Some of the nicest people I've ever met were 'goths'. Quit being so damn judgemental. What does it matter to you?

They're juat like other kids who want to be part of a group. Some are Jocks, some ride skateboards, some join math club, others dress all in black.

Maybe it's weirder than most of the other ones, but the reason for it is the same.

A goth once took a bullet for me, but another one killed my father. So overall I'm pretty neutral on 'em.

Just like having long hair in the 60's.......just a little more extreme in my opinion. :)

There's a ton of kids like that at my school. They're just different like we all are, nothing

One thing I do feel is that they feel too rebellious and have a feeling to want to stand out from the crowd so they change their appearance so much. I think many of them just need a group to hang out with

Usually depressed people, looking for meaning in life and finding none. They find this group of people who either shares this, or pretends to, and it all just falls together. Yes, for some of them their biggest problem is their asshat dad took away their car or something, but some of them are people with painful depression.
Some of them are just fascinated with all things morbid.
(I had a goth phase for a couple years prior to entering my 20s.)
